Yet another main event canned by the global pandemic, Walt Harris vs. Alistair Overeem finally met tonight (Sat., May 16, 2020) from inside Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., at UFC on ESPN 8. There was plenty on the line for both men, as Overeem looked to rebound from a disappointing loss, while Harris attempted to return from personal tragedy and climb into title contention in one fell swoop.
It turned out to be a very entertaining main event. Overeem recovered from a brutal knockdown to implement his own offensive skills and score a second-round knockout win.

Round One
Harris shows the jab to start. Harris absorbs a big spin kick to the mid-section. Two huge left hands just miss Overeem’s chin. Overrem is rocked by a left hand, and Harris jumps on him! Harris is standing over him, dropping absolute hammers! Somehow, Overeem survives, using a leg lock attempt to get back to his feet. Overeem is back on his feet in the clinch, covered in blood. Harris punches forward and lands a left, but he falls over following a kick! Overeem capitalizes and lands on top in side control. Overeem wraps up a gift wrap momentarily before tying up the wrist. Overeem begins dropping punches from a back mount position. Harris is very stuck and now bloodied up with a minute remaining. As Harris returns to his feet, he eats some heavy knees.

Round Two
Overeem lands first in the second with a glancing overhand. Both men look a touch tired as Harris fires a body kick. Inside low kick scores for Overeem. Seconds later, Overeem goes high with a clobbering high kick that rocks Harris, and a heavy right hand sent him to the mat. Overeem jumped on his back, tying up the wrist again as he smacked his opponent with head shots. When Overeem secured his second hook, he was able to flatten Harris out. Overeem kept punching his trapped opponent, forcing the referee to call the bout.
