Alistair Overeem does not fully agree with referee Dan Miragliotta’s decision to stop his fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik with four seconds left in round five.
Alistair Overeem entered UFC DC with the hopes of extending his win streak and getting back to the path of title contention. Instead, he suffered a late fifth-round TKO loss to undefeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
‘The Demolition Man’ was actually ahead in the scorecards, and would’ve won by decision if time expired. But after absorbing a right hand that dropped him and subsequently cut his lip in half, referee Dan Miragliotta decided to call the fight at 4:56 of round fight and award Rozenstruik a TKO victory.
As he was getting stitched up, Overeem tweeted out his post-fight reaction, slightly disputing Miragliotta’s stoppage call.
Getting stitched up. Lip not to sexy at the moment.. a little bit a fast stoppage if u ask me – but hope u guys enjoyed the fight
