Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) “It” girl Paige VanZant abandoned the 115-pound weight class to compete in the promotion’s newly-created flyweight division, designed to help fighters like “12 Gauge” compete at a more natural weight.

Because dying sucks.

Unfortunately, her debut at 125 pounds didn’t exactly go as planned, as VanZant broke her arm against Jessica Rose-Clark en route to a unanimous decision loss last Sunday night (Jan. 14, 2018) in St. Louis, Missouri.

An injury severe enough to send her under the knife.

“Looks like I’m going to need surgery, so I go in on Monday,” VanZant said. “Wish me luck. Send some prayers up. And now I’m going to go sympathy shot. Thank you, guys, for all your support. I love all my fans out there. I’ll be back stronger than ever, this time with a bionic arm.”

You can thank this decision for that.

VanZant (7-4) is still just 23 years old and will have plenty of time to bounce back; however, she’s likely on the shelf for the better part of 2018 and will be able to focus more time on non-fighting endeavors like this.
