Even though he lost, Mike Perry is proud he managed to fight six hard rounds against Jake Paul with a busted rib.

“Platinum” Mike Perry plans to return to bareknuckle boxing after a disappointing sixth round technical knockout loss to Jake Paul with gloves on (watch it). But, first he’ll have to take a little break to, “let my ribs heal up.

Perry appeared on Paul’s YouTube channel to discuss the match with his opponent, and it was all love between the two fighters as “Platinum” credited Paul with breaking his ribs mere seconds into the opening round.

“First 10 seconds, that first punch you hit me with, you popped me,” Perry said. “Because I knew people were gonna be like ‘Put your hands up,’ right? I come out like this, my hands up. And my rib was wide open and you hit me in the rib and I was like, ‘F—, that’s it.’

“I brought my hands down, and you popped me the other way,” he continued. “And I fought through it, that’s something, there’s pieces of things I can be proud of. But, I think it was fair and square.”

This was one of Paul’s most dominating performances in his short, but notable, boxing career. But, a lot of people aren’t giving him the credit he may deserve because they feel the size difference over Perry was so large.

Paul was preparing to fight a Heavyweight Mike Tyson when Perry stepped into the July 20, 2024, date (details here). Perry fights at 185 pounds these days, and was a 170 pounder in UFC. So, not only did Paul have 20 extra pounds on him officially, we’re learning “The Problem Child” also cut over 35 pounds to get to the bout’s weight limit.

Sandbagging?

Undoubtedly, it’s been a cornerstone of Paul’s matchmaking from day one. But, Perry isn’t using it as an excuse. It was fair and square to him. He’d even run the fight back in mixed martial arts (MMA), something Paul suggested they do in PFL after he fights Tyson in November.
