Paulie Malignaggi and team have ‘reached out’ to Dana White to ask for McGregor fight

Paulie Malignaggi isn’t giving up on a boxing match with Conor McGregor.

Almost two months on from Conor McGregor’s superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi is still calling out the Irishman on social media.

Malignaggi, who was brought in as a sparring partner to help McGregor prepare for Mayweather, was upset with some of the images and videos of posted on McGregor’s social media accounts.

‘Magic Man’ felt he was depicted in a bad light — one of the pictures showed McGregor standing over him on the canvas — and the 36-year-old has been campaigning for a grudge match ever since.

On Friday the retired boxer revealed that his adviser, Al Haymon, had reached out to UFC president Dana White to try and begin formal negotiations for the bout.

Serious Question. Do you ever see you and CM getting it on in the ring or is there just to many complications?

It happens if he wants it. I have spoken to my team, like Mayweather I am with Al Haymon. I know Haymon has reached out to Dana White. https://t.co/oHSKMi1PqE

McGregor, 29, went 10 rounds with Mayweather until finally being stopped with a barrage of punches against the ropes. Despite losing, ‘The Notorious’ surpassed many expectations in his boxing debut but has promised to return to MMA to defend his lightweight title. And, Although Malignaggi is trying to lure McGregor back into the ring, it looks like the Dubliner will end up fighting newly-crowned UFC interim champ Tony Ferguson in a title unification bout.

McGregor recently teased of a championship bout with Ferguson by posting a GTA-inspired cartoon picture on Twitter.

Ferguson, of course, was quick to reply in his own creative way.

Although it’s far from announced, expect McGregor and Ferguson to square off in late-December or the new year. (Sorry, Malignaggi).
