A left-knee injury has forced veteran welterweight Paulo Thiago out of his Aug. 28 UFC Fight Night bout against Kelvin Gastelum.
Brazil’s Globo reported the news Monday. MMAFighting confirmed the report with UFC officials, who stated a search is on for a replacement to fight Gastelum in Indianapolis.
Gastulem, a 21-year-old from Yuma, Ariz., is 6-0 on his career and is most famous for his upset victory over the much-hyped Uriah Hall in The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in June.
The injury marks just the second time Thiago (15-5) has had to pull out of a fight during his four-year, 10-bout stint in the UFC.
