UFC bantamweight Pedro Munhoz is facing a hefty fine for his post-fight celebration at UFC 235.

UFC bantamweight contender Pedro Munhoz notched the biggest win of his career by knocking out former 135-pound champion Cody Garbrandt in the first round at UFC 235 in March. With emotions running high, the Brazilian went on to leap the cage fence to have a few friendly words with Dominick Cruz, who was at the broadcast booth at the time.

Munhoz’s post-fight actions, however, were met with a hefty disciplinary action, as the Nevada Athletic Commission decided to suspend him temporarily. During the Commission meeting on Wednesday, Munhoz also received a $2,500 fine.

Per MMAFighting.com, he will also have to pay an additional $327.06 for prosecution fees before he can be given the green light to get back in action. The report adds that the NAC initially deliberated whether the amount would suffice or not, but since it wasn’t done out of malice, it was deemed enough to “serve notice.”

According to the Commission, the ruling is more about fighters’ safety, and is no way connected to Khabib Nurmagomedov jumping the fence to lunge at Conor McGregor’s corner at UFC 229 in October, which resulted to multiple suspensions and fines.

Early this month, it was reported that a fight between Munhoz and fellow top-five contender Aljamain Sterling is being planned for UFC 238 in Chicago on June 8th.
