An intriguing bantamweight fight is set for UFC 227.
UFC 227 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight, and the UFC has decided to add another good 135-pound bout to the card as well. The promotion recently announced that Brett Johns and Pedro Munhoz will face off on the August 4th card in the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Johns (15-1, 3-1 UFC) is getting back in there quickly after suffering the first loss of his career via decision to Aljamain Sterling in April. Before that, he picked up a 2017 submission of the year candidate with a calf slicer win over Joe Soto.
Munhoz (15-3, 1 NC, 5-3, 1 NC UFC) is coming off a close split decision loss to John Dodson in March. That broke up a four-fight winning streak that saw him defeat the likes of Justin Scoggins and Rob Font.
Munhoz is currently the 10th ranked contender at bantamweight in the UFC rankings. Johns sits at 14.
UFC 227 will be topped by a rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt for the UFC bantamweight title. Demetrious Johnson is also scheduled to defend his featherweight title against Henry Cejudo for a second time.
