We knew it was happening. Now we know where.
Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, will make her next 125-pound title defense opposite Joanne Calderwood in the upcoming UFC 251 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event on Sun., June 7, 2020 inside RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
The ESPN+ event, expected to be topped by the featherweight championship rematch between Alexander Volkanovski (champion) and Max Holloway (challenger), airs live in most parts of the world on Sat., June 6 due to the discrepancy in time zones.
Shevchenko (19-3) is undefeated since dropping down from the bantamweight division, racking up five straight wins with three violent finishes. As for Calderwood (14-4), she got back into the win column with a split-decision victory over Andrea Lee last September.
No other fights have been announced for the promotion’s return “Down Under;” however, you can expect that to change sooner, rather than later.
