A marquee welterweight fight may just be added to the UFC 245 card for December 14th.
Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis plans to keep himself active. After his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 241 last month, “Showtime” is looking to make one final return to the Octagon for 2019.
Coach Duke Roufus already expressed intent for his fighter to remain at 170-pounds and gun for a possible fight against either Diego Sanchez or Carlos Condit. Pettis did follow through and respectfully called out the TUF 1 alum via Instagram.
Sanchez accepted the challenge, and the two now have their own verbal agreement to face each other at UFC 245.
This is one of the reasons I love this sport, two warriors ready to do it. if the fans want it. Your only as good as your last performance and my last showing the volcano did not erupt! It is what it is circumstances vary and I did not pull the trigger and lost my opportunity!
The lesson has been learned and I vow to leave it all in there come dec! @showtimepettis it would be a honor to stand across the octagon! Thank you for seeing the value in us competing #letsdoit
UFC 245 takes place on December 14th in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie.
