PFL MMA
Watch and discuss the featherweight and men’s lightweight tournaments for the Professional Fighters League, starting at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on Thursday, October 17th.
Tonight (Thursday, October 17th) from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas features the featherweight and men’s lightweight tournaments, as we’ve reached the playoff portion of Season 2 of the Professional Fighters League.
To get to the $1 million final on New Year’s Eve, you need to win twice in one night. The quarterfinals are two, five-minute rounds while the semifinals are your standard three-round battles.
In the featherweight division, Lance Palmer is the top seed and in search of another $1 million. He’ll begin his quest to defend his title against Alexandre Almeida. As for the lightweight division, Natan Schulte won last year’s tournament, and the Brazilian is the #1 seed again this year. He’ll take on former UFC fighter Ramsey Nijem in his quarterfinal.
Once again, it’s important to note that for the quarterfinals, tiebreakers are no longer based on who won round one. There’s a much more sensible process this time around.
PFL quarterfinal tiebreaker significant rule change for this year: If fight is a draw after 2 rounds, judges then pick a winner based on overall fight performance. Last year, 1st-round winner advanced. Read the tiebreaker rules in below screenshot. pic.twitter.com/9SuDZMt14H
