PFL 2019, Week 2 results/video: 10-second flying knee KO!

While the main card didn’t offer a ton of action, an incredible undercard KO excited fans at the PFL show tonight.

Professional Fighters League put on the second event of their 2019 season in the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island tonight, and surprisingly enough, the highlight of the whole event came on the undercard.

Two tournament winners from last year started their repeat campaigns with strong wins, while two other hometown fighters kept the crowd happy with wins of their own.

Here’s how it all went down.

Lance Palmer def. Alex Gilpin via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Palmer dropped Gilpin with a left hook in the first round, but couldn’t get the sub finish in the aftermath. He spent the next two rounds toying with Gilpin on the ground, but only got three points with a decision win.

Chris Wade def. Nate Andrews via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Like the main event, this fight was grappling-heavy, with Wade getting a bunch of takedowns over the first two rounds. Andrews did threaten with an armbar near the end of the fight, but Wade pulled out the decision win for three points.

Andre Harrison def. Peter Petties via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Another fight, another wrestle-fest. That might be a little bit harsh as Harrison only landed three takedowns and looked for a bunch of submission attempts, but was never really close to putting Petties away. Three points to Harrison, who bounced back from his first career loss in good fashion.

Akhmed Aliev def. Carlao Silva via KO (punches) at 2:24 of round 1

In the only main card finish of the night, Aliev crushed Silva with an overhand right and followed it up with enough damage on the ground to get the stoppage halfway through the first round. 6 big points for Aliev.

Islam Mamedov def. Ylies Djiroun via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

The closest fight of the main card was how you judge striking vs. grappling. Dijroun was more effective on the feet. Mamedov was more effective on the mat. In the end, control time arguably took it for Mamedov, who took a split decision.
