Jose Aldo wants a super fight with double champion Henry Cejudo at bantamweight.
Former UFC feathweight champion Jose Aldo is trying to keep his word and move down to the bantamweight division as soon as possible. Already dieting down to make the cut, it did not take the Brazilian too long to once again call out double champion Henry Cejudo.
In an interview with Combate, Aldo points out that Cejudo’s smaller frame and stature could be an advantage, and sees himself winning the fight with a knee knockout, should it ever take place.
“He’s short, so that’s a start. He’s a wrestler, an Olympic medallist, but I mean no disrespect, it’s really hard to take me down. As soon as I get an opportunity, I’ll connect with a knee and knock him out. Not just him, anyone. Nowadays I’ve been thinking about developing my kickboxing or my striking, a very aggressive style, rather than thinking about a strategy. In my last fight, I waited for so long that I overdid it and ended up doing nothing.”
Although many pundits wonder whether or not Aldo is capable of making the cut to bantamweight given that he seemingly had a difficult time making featherweight, Jose says it is not big deal. He showed off his physique and claims to be able to keep his weight at healthy number for the 135 cut, without compromising much.

“My weight is dropping just fine. I had never been on a diet before in my life. I’m keeping myself at 149, 152, while training hard. If I were to make featherweight, I wouldn’t even suffer. I actually had to hold it a little because I was losing too much. Me fighting at 135 is a sure thing. I’m just waiting for Cejudo to decide whether or not he will fight. I’ve been asking Andre (Pederneiras) everyday. I’ve been terrorizing him. This f-g needs to do something or give up. He’s just saying he wants to fight. Internet talk is cheap. I want to see him sign the contract and show he is man enough to fight me or whoever it may be. The division is stuck. It’s been a problem not only for me, but for other fighters who want to fight for the title. I’ve been in this sh-t for a month and I have no answers.”
In his last outing, Jose Aldo (28-5) dropped an unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovsi, back in May. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for the 33-year-old, with TKO victories over the likes of Renato Moicano and Jeremy Stephens.
