Manny Pacquiao v Keith Thurman

Another hard fought fight for Manny, another controversial split decision for boxing. Here’s how the scores broke down.

A 40 year old Manny Pacquiao proved he’s still got gas in the tank on Saturday night when he won a split decision victory over Keith Thurman, earning himself the WBA super welterweight title. Don’t get it twisted over the scoring, though. While the previously undefeated Thurman did well and rallied through the later rounds, most had Pacquiao winning the bout handily (watch the highlights here).

The official scorecards? Two judges had it at 115-112 for Pacquiao while the third dissenting judge had it 114-113 Thurman. We had it 115-112 Pacquiao (check out our play-by-play of the fight for a full breakdown).

Take a look at how the judges scored the fight round by round.

Glenn Feldmann, the dissenting judge who gave the fight to Thurman, handed every round from the sixth onward to the American boxer except the 10th (which featured a big body shot that hurt Thurman). Dave Moretti split the second half between the two fighters while Pacquiao won Tim Cheatham’s scorecard based on his strong start and knockdown in the first round.
