Jolie “Thug Wife” Poirier is done with Conor McGregor and his gutter trash mouth.
Leading up to UFC 257, the relationship between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor couldn’t be chummier. They exchanged whiskey and hot sauce, talked up a big charity deal for Poirier’s “Good Fight Foundation,” and spent fight week laying the compliments on thick with each other.
At UFC 264, which took place last night (Sat., July 10, 2021) in Las Vegas, Nevada, not so much.
The big charity deal fell apart after Poirier won the second fight. McGregor started talking mad trash, both at Dustin and his wife, Jolie Poirier (details here). At the weigh-ins, he promised to kill Poirier dead in the cage. Suffice to say, when Poirier beat down McGregor and won their third fight (watch highlights), both he and his wife were very sick of McGregor’s trash talk.
Jolie went so far as to throw a middle finger at the Irish sports star as he lay on the canvas with a broken leg (see it). I don’t think it was unprovoked, though:

“This guy is a dirtbag,” Poirier declared as McGregor screamed at him and his wife.
“He was saying … he was … I hope they show the behind-the-scenes stuff,” Poirier said during the UFC 264 post-fight press conference. “He was sitting on the ground still saying, ‘I’m going to kill you.’ Putting his finger to his head like a gun. Like bro, chill out. Chill out. He was saying that.”
“He fractured it on one of the checks. I felt it.”
“This guy is a dirtbag, man.”@DustinPoirier believes McGregor’s injury was due to a checked kick.

It hasn’t been an easy six months for Mrs. Poirier, Dustin admitted after the fight.
“She was getting worked up, just with the stuff around the charity,” he said. “But I’ve been in the spotlight a long time, been fighting UFC, great performances mostly, a couple ones that didn’t go my way. And I just know the fire that comes down with that stuff so I’m more equipped to handle that hate.
“She’s not, so when the charity stuff started going with Conor and a lot of hate was being thrown, she was feeling it because she’s so involved with the charity,” he continued. “So it started bringing her down. And then with Conor pulling all this other stuff he did, it was working her up more than it was me.
“I don’t like to see that. I don’t want anyone around me to have to go through that,” Poirier concluded. “But, it’s whatever, man, it’s social media stuff. It’s not real.”

The dislike between Poirier and McGregor certainly is at this point, which should make a fourth fight between them sometime in the future an interesting showdown. UFC President, Dana White, has already confirmed the two have to scrap again since, “You can’t have a fight finish that way.”
And Poirier is already looking forward to beating up McGregor again over the death threats.
“You don’t say stuff like that, that he was going to murder me,” Poirier said. “You don’t say stuff about people’s wives either, but I know that’s zero chance. But there is a chance someone could die and you don’t wish that on anybody.”
