LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – It’s better to be safe than sorry

Following UFC Vegas 99 last night (Sat., Oct. 19, 2024) in Las Vegas, Nevada, company officials confirmed to MMAMania.com that two fighters, main event loser Michel Pereira and Fight of the Night bonus winner Daniel Pineda, were transported to the local hospital for precautionary reasons following their fights.

Pereira – who got mauled and eventually finished by Anthony Hernandez – was sent to the hospital for a precautionary CT scan of her head and face.

Meanwhile, after losing an all-out three-round war with Darren Elkins, Pineda was transported for a precautionary CT scan of his head and face. “The Pit” also retired after his loss.

“That was my last one, man. You know, there are some dogs in here, and that was my third straight one. F—k it dude, I’m done. I’m done, guys. Thank you, Elkins, for a badass fight,” Pineda said after the fight.

Check out his retirement speech below:

Pineda ends his violent career, which started in 2007, with 47 fights and a 100% finish rate. He began his first stint in the UFC in 2012, going 3-4, and then got released. He returned to the promotion in 2020 after fighting in Bellator and PFL and went 2-3-1.

Pineda obviously didn’t have the best career inside UFC, but he was always must-watch television. It sucks he ended his career in the Apex, though.
