Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will step in on short notice to fight fellow 265-pound bruiser Chase Sherman at the upcoming UFC Vegas 24 MMA event, scheduled for Sat., April 17, 2021, inside APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sherman’s original opponent, Parker Porter, was bounced from the ESPN fight card for undisclosed reasons, according to Fight Bananas.
Arlovski (30-20) is looking to rebound from his submission loss to Tom Aspinall at the UFC Vegas 19 card back in February, which ended a two-fight win streak for the 42 year-old “Pitbull.” Despite his mounting losses over the last few years, it appears the Belarusian brawler has no plans of slowing down.
Sherman (15-6) is the winner of four straight, including his May 2020 victory over Isaac Villanueva at UFC Fight Night 171. It should be noted the recently-returned “Vanilla Gorilla” scored three of those wins — all stoppages — on the regional circuit, having been released from the promotion back in late 2018.
UFC Vegas 24 will be headlined by the middleweight showdown between Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum. Elsewhere on the card, Bartosz Fabinski and Gerald Meerschaert collide in middleweight action.
