Perry returns to the Octagon on April 10th and the big question is whether he’ll make weight this time after a 4.5 pound flub back in November.

We’re one day removed from UFC on ABC 2 fight week, and in addition to the intriguing last minute Marvin Vettori vs. Kevin Holland main event we’ve also got the return of UFC bad boy “Platinum” Mike Perry to look forward to. Well … if you’re into him.

Some, like UFC president Dana White, think “He’s always tough and fun to watch!” Others point to the disturbing stories of possible CTE and alleged abuse from his ex Danielle Nickerson along with his camera-confirmed violent behavior outside the cage and worry he’s a ticking time bomb ready to go off.

Whether he fulfils anyone’s worst case scenarios is something we’ll just have to sit back and nervously watch, but one area he’s definitely already messing up is his weight cuts. For his last fight against Tim Means, Perry dabbed on the scale after missed weight by a staggering 4.5 pounds. And now that we’re coming close to his UFC on ABC 2 fight against Daniel Rodriguez he’s tweeting about this weight cut like we might see a repeat.

Maybe we should ask Rodriguez if he’s gotten any messages from Perry on the subject. With Tim Means, “Platinum” was sending “The Dirty Bird” photos of himself eating cheeseburgers and onion rings. That’s some expensive mental warfare: for missing weight so badly, Perry had to give Means $27,000 out of his show purse.

Trying to get a read on Perry via his social media channels is pretty tricky. On account of my lack of psychological credentials, I don’t want to say Perry’s social media accounts are basically the embodiment of manic depression in tweet form. But he swings from this:

To this:

Pretty regularly, which is still an improvement over the time he popped up on our timelines covered in blood.

And then there’s the camp photos like below where Mike looks lean and mean. So who knows what shape Perry is going to show up in. The bookies have Perry a +155 dog to Rodriguez’s -175, so they’re not too sure either.

UFC on ABC 2 goes down April 10th from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
