Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in action last weekend with the UFC on FOX 29: “Poirier vs. Gaethje” mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza, which took place last Sat. night (April 14, 2018) inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
UFC on FOX 29 was headlined by lightweight contender Dustin Poirier, who continued his ascension up the 155-pound ladder by melting Justin Gaethje (highlights here). But “The Diamond” didn’t leave “The Grand Canyon State” without a few scratches.
And a pair of crutches.

Ouch.
Poirier (23-5, 1 NC) is now 7-1 (1 NC) since his 2014 loss to Conor McGregor at featherweight. The lightweight “Diamond” continues to improve in each fight and already caught the eye of promotion president Dana White.
Where Poirier sits in the crowded 155-pound title picture remains to be seen, and like everyone else waiting for a crack at the crown, we may need this injury to heal and this fighter to actually show up to know who belongs where.
