Dustin Poirier was upset that his “Good Fight” foundation was unable to collect a $500,000 donation pledged by lightweight rival Conor McGregor, despite multiple attempts to contact the “Notorious” team in the weeks following UFC 257.

Read that back-and-forth exchange right here.

But now that a few days have passed, and the promotion has confirmed the lightweight trilogy between Poirier and McGregor at UFC 264 on July 10 in Las Vegas, “The Diamond” walked back some of his criticism because it brought negative energy to a positive cause.

“I am very passionate about my charity as you all know,” Poirier wrote on Twitter. “I jumped the gun and took my private matters between Conor and my foundation public. My mistake, we live, we learn. Spreading positivity and doing good is my goal.”

McGregor insists his team requested — and never received — an itemized list for how the donation funds would be distributed and further chastised the Louisianan for airing their dirty laundry in public.

Sounds like Poirier agrees.

“I feel like I have brought a negative energy and personal opinions into something I am working so hard on that gives people a reason to cheer and smile,” Poirier continued. “I will take this in stride and continue to fight the good fight! New goal coming soon and it is a big one. Thank you to all who is involved and all the supporters who believe in our vision.”

With press events for UFC 264 just around the corner, I have a sneaking suspicion that we haven’t heard the last of this squabble.
