Polaris 4 features Minowaman, Imanari, big name bouts in grappling

Legends and rising stars take to the Polaris mat.

Competitive grappling is growing in prominence among combat sports fans. Polaris Jiu Jitsu Invitational has carved out a large market of the industry and that’s due to putting on events with the biggest names in the sport. Polaris 4 continues that trend as it has brought together a card featuring some of the best grapplers in the game.

Polaris 4 is set for October 29, live from The Lighthouse in the United Kingdom. This event is perhaps the biggest to date as it has some key super fights that fans want to see.

In the main event, Fernando “Terere” Augusto faces off against Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro. This matchup brings together the worlds of mixed martial arts and competitive grappling as Terere is a multi-time champion and Ribeiro is known for his time competing for major promotions such as Strikeforce and DREAM, while also being a former IBJJF champion as well.

Terere built his fame using an aggressive style of grappling that is was very different than what some fans were used to seeing in most Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fights. Even though Terere hasn’t competed on the major scene much in recent years, he’s still widely considered to be one of the most influential members of the community. Shaolin is a name that many in the sport community know as well, especially for his ability to compete as a lightweight and still find success against many men bigger than him.

The excitement around Polaris 4 doesn’t stop there. Hot off of his Polaris bout against Rousimar Palhares, Garry Tonon is back and this time he’s against UFC competitor Gilbert Burns. Burns isn’t a stranger to the world of grappling as he’s coming off of a medaling performance at the 2015 ADCC tournament last summer.

Tonon, a multiple-time winner across multiple grappling promotions, is known for his dangerous leg locking attacks and his aggressive style. After months of calling out Burns on social media, the bout is set for Polaris 4 and is expected to be one of favorites from the night.

Polaris 4 is available on live stream for $20.00 through the Polaris website.
