A lightweight showdown between Al Iaquinta and Dan Hooker is featured in the UFC 243 co-main event, scheduled for Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on Sun., Oct. 6, 2019 (airing stateside on Sat., Oct. 5, due to the considerable discrepancy in time zones).
“Ragin’ Al” (14-5-1) is looking to rebound from a tough loss to Donald Cerrone this past May in hopes of climbing back up to another shot at the 155-pound strap. Prior to coming up short to “Cowboy,” Iaquinta took a dominant victory over Kevin Lee, eight months after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in an interim title fight.
Hooker (18-8) is coming off a first-round knockout win over James Vick earlier this year at UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio, Texas. After the fight, “The Hangman” called out any able and willing combatant to accept a fight with him, and Iaquinta appears to be the man for the job.
