Niko Price and Donald Cerrone faced off in a Welterweight bout tonight (Sat., Sept. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 11 from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following a very fun fight, the fight was scored a majority draw.
Price attacked first, but Cerrone avoided the punches and landed a low kick. Price cracked him with a right hand, and Cerrone was looking a bit wobbly. Price was immediately doing big damage from close quarters, attacking his opponent with uppercuts and elbows. Three big right hands connect for “The Hybrid.” Cerrone fired back with a hard knee to the mid-section. The two clinched up and traded knees. “Cowboy” sneaked a knee to the jawline. Cerrone landed a body kick, as Price’s onslaught seemed to tire him a bit. Big 3-2 landed for Price after a pause in the action. One more time! Sharp jab scored for Cerrone, who looked for a high kick on the break of the clinch. Cerrone’s face looked battered as Price landed another two hooks. Clean left hook landed for Price and snapped the jaw, but Cerrone fired back with a body kick.
Price lost a point for a second illegal eye poke. “Cowboy” ripped a low kick at the bell.
Price scored with three low kicks of his own to start the second. Cerrone stuck his foe with a jab. Price attacked the lead calf again. Price dug a hook to the body. Inside low kick landed for Cerrone. Cerrone landed a long jab. Price landed a 1-2, absorbed a body punch. Intercepting knee for Cerrone, then another pair of body punches! Spinning back kick for “Cowboy.” Price landed a couple hard kicks while advancing, but Cerrone stuck him with a right hand. Big 3-2 scored for Price, and his body kicks were really affecting Cerrone. Good jab from the veteran, then a lead elbow. Price kicked the leg. Price finished the round with a good body kick.
Price opened the final round with four hard low kicks. Price nearly gets taken down by defends successfully in strange fashion. Long jab scored for Price. Big right hand connected by Price, by Cerrone landed a good return body kick. Snapping jab scored for Cerrone. Double eye poke stalls the action! Cerrone scored a takedown and jumped into back mount. Price slipped out the back door and let his opponent back up. Cerrone targeted the body, absorbed another low kick. Two crisp left hooks landed for Cerrone. “Cowboy” with a head kick on the break! The two trade jabs. The fight ends with a series of wild exchanges.
This bout was extremely competitive, as Cerrone survived a terrible opening minute to rally well late in the fight. Ultimately, the judges reasonably declared the fight a draw
