Prior to making his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut, Jiri Prochazka, had already faced and defeated UFC-caliber competition, scoring back-to-back knockout first round wins over C.B. Dollaway and Fabio Maldonado under the RIZIN banner.
Seven months after his win over Dollaway, Jiri found himself competing on the biggest stage of them all against a former Light Heavyweight title contender, Volkan Oezdemir, on the undercard of UFC 251: “Usman vs Masvidal.”
And it didn’t take too long for Prochazka to put the 205-pund weight class on notice, as “Denisa” took it to “No Time” with a rather unorthodox striking style. After softening him up for six minutes, Prochazka managed to tagged Oezdemir with a solid straight right in the opening minute of the second round, knocking him clean out.
With 11 straight wins under his belt, Prochazka quickly found himself in the Top 15 and with a big fight in his sophomore effort inside the Octagon as he will next face another former title contender in the form of Dominick Reyes.
The two men will headline an upcoming Fight Night event on Feb. 27, 2021 at a location that has yet-to-be determined.
