Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, was arrested early Thursday (March 26, 2020) in his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M., for allegedly Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), negligent use of a firearm, and possession of an open container.
For those keeping count, this is now the second such charge on Jones is facing, first getting busted after wrecking his Bentley into a light pole in 2012 in New York. In addition, “Bones” turned himself in to authorities after a hit-and-run accident in “The Duke City” back in 2015.
Naturally, the mixed martial arts (MMA) world had a thing or three to say about Jones’ latest legal dust up, and took to social media to vent.
See, there’s no need to panic. The world’s still perfectly normal. https://t.co/YuWyN0MukI

Obviously as a recovery/addiction advocate I sympathize with Jon here, but at the same time at one point or another its black and white… either learn from your mistakes and set a good example, especially with the size of the platform he has, or fuck it all up… https://t.co/nP9tHg5yCS

As of this writing, UFC officials have yet to release a statement.
This is just the latest dark entry in Jones’ tumultuous reign as UFC champion, which has seen him on the wrong side of the law numerous times. Just a few months ago, Jones was hit with a misdemeanor battery charge after he was accused of getting physical with a waitress at a strip club.
