Michel Pereira — fresh off a victory against Niko Price at UFC 264: “Poirier vs. McGregor 3” — wants to throw hands with Nate Diaz.
Michel Pereira wants to pair his fan-friendly style with a bonafide fan-favorite, Nate Diaz,
Pereira (26-11) improved his active Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) win streak to three with a unanimous decision victory over Niko Price at UFC 264: “Poirier vs. McGregor 3,” which took place inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, this past weekend (Sat., July 10, 2021).
“I’ve been trying to put on shows, to be different. I feel MMA has lost a little bit of this. But with my style, I won’t let it happen,” Pereira told media at the UFC 264 post-fight press conference (h/t MMA Junkie). “I came up with a few things. Niko has surprised me with a few things. I said in all my interviews he would be ready because he knows I’m very focused and hard-working. So he came well prepared. I was well prepared and I managed to come out with the win.
“Now I want to fight Nate Diaz,” he continued. “I want to get into the rankings. I need to get into the rankings to fight the best guys in my division. Some guys are not willing to fight me because I’m not ranked, so now I want to get ranked in order to fight them.”
Diaz (20-13) nearly snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in a five-round fight with No. 3-ranked Welterweight contender Leon Edwards at UFC 263 last month. Ultimately, however, Diaz lost via unanimous decision.
