Shortly after Rafael dos Anjos defeated Robbie Lawler in a dominant five-round main event at UFC on FOX 26 last night (Sat., Dec. 16, 2017) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Colby Covington wasted no time in calling out “RDA.”
Indeed, “Chaos,” true to form, took to social media to clown on what was actually a really dominant victory by a former champion. And of course, he once again took a jab at Brazil.
Sad performance by the JV Squad on FOX for #UFCWinnipeg . RDA couldn’t even finish a broken old man! Tyrones faking injuries. I’m here to make this division great again. @RdosAnjosMMA step up and defend that #dump you call home & fight me for the interim title you #FilthyAnimal

When asked to respond to the tweet, dos Anjos didn’t waste much time responding to Colby, but did remind everyone that he has yet to accomplish much in his time in mixed martial arts (MMA).
“I have no comment about that guy. He has 6,000 followers on Twitter and he’s just talking crap about people,” said Rafael during the UFC on FOX 26 post-fight press conference in Winnipeg.
“He’s done nothing in the division, he beat nobody. He beat Demian Maia, but Demian looked really bad. I just have no comments on that guy.”
Indeed, calling for an interim title is not that surprising from Colby, as he has been lobbying for his own title shot against Tyron Woodley, but it seems that won’t happen anytime soon after “The Chosen One” opted to undergo shoulder surgery.
Plus, “RDA” will get the next shot at the division strap, as UFC president Dana White stated prior to the bout the winner would get dibs. And despite only having a short time competing at 170 pounds, Rafael’s first three wins have been very impressive.
That said, should Woodley be on the shelf for an extended period of time, I wouldn’t be mad if UFC matchmakers opted to book this bout in the interim.
