Rampage Jackson unsure about MMA future, but wants to ‘try some’ boxing

Currently uncertain about his MMA career, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is toying with the idea of venturing into boxing.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is currently in limbo, in terms of his MMA career. After declaring that his last fight under Bellator against Muhammed Lawal in March was his last for the company, he revealed on Monday’s MMA Hour episode that he has a running contract with the UFC.

It is the same contract that enabled him to face former UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 in April 2015. At the time, Rampage was already signed under Bellator, and had fought four fights.

But even if another UFC run is a possibility, Rampage still holds some apprehensions about jumping in on it.

“I haven’t talked to Dana personally about it,” Rampage said (via MMA Fighting). “My manager Tiki Ghosn has been talking to him, but I think the UFC is doing great things for the company. They’re in a good place. I just don’t know what’s going to happen for me.”

“I think I got three good fights in me, then after that then I’ll see if I have three more good fights in me,” he continued. “I really would like to fight because in MMA, I feel like fighters can get old overnight. I’m 39 years old, I put 17 good years into this sport and my body has taken a toll. I think that I know how to train with injuries and stuff like that, and I’m training smarter. I still have enough juices and energy to entertain the fans, I love entertaining the fans.

“My whole career I never dealt with the managerial shit. I just like train and fight, f—k, play video games, play with my toys, play with my kids, that’s my life.”

After Conor McGregor’s unsuccessful yet lucrative boxing run, other MMA fighters like Jose Aldo, Stipe Miocic, and Jimi Manuwa want in on the action, as well. Unsuprisngly, Rampage was added to that list.

“Now that Dana White is letting Conor McGregor box, I’ve always asked Dana to let me do some shit like that. Hopefully, Uncle Dana, if you got ties with boxing now, let me try some of that shit.”
