Much of UFC Uruguay talk has been about Mike Perry’s gruesome broken nose, but there was another fighter in Raulian Paiva who also suffered a nasty injury.
Paiva competed against Rogerio Bontorin in a flyweight contest during the event’s prelims last night. However, the fight was stopped just three minutes into the contest due to the gash Paiva suffered on his right eyebrow area.
UFC president Dana White would share the gruesome image of just how bad the gash was soon after:
However, it was promptly stitched up as White proceeded to give everyone an update:
The loss puts Paiva at 0-2 in the UFC, having suffered a split decision loss to Kai Kara-France earlier this year. However, it’s hard to really put much stock into this defeat, considering it was due to a cut.
As for Bontorin, he is now 2-0 in the UFC. He enjoyed a successful promotional debut earlier this year when he defeated longtime contender Magomed Bibulatov via split decision.
Both fighters are products of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series as well, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them continue with the promotion for a while.
What did you think of the injury? Was it worse than Perry’s?
