Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Diego Brandao, 28, who rose to fame after capturing the glass trophy as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14, was released last month by the world’s premiere mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.
Not only did “DB” fail his UFC 195 drug test back in January, he was also arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pistol-whipping a nightclub employee in Albuquerque, New Mexico (our initial report here). Not surprisingly, TMZ obtained video of the Brazilian confessing to possession (see above).
Brandao is claiming self defense.
“I do have a gun, I do go back there and say, ‘Get the fuck away from me. You guys wanna kill me?’ I ask the guy, ‘Why the fuck you trying to choke me?’ You try choking me?”
Prosecutors have yet to file formal charges, according to the latest update, but you can read the police report here.
