Former UFC title contender Ray Borg put up a retirement post on Instagram, only to delete it afterward.
Ray Borg was supposed to be part of the UFC’s August 1st card. But because of undisclosed reasons, he along with Eric Spicely and Timur Valiev were all pulled off from the event.
A week later, the UFC released the 27-year-old Borg from its roster. At the time, he was still optimistic to “be back” after numerous setbacks he’d gone through, both in his career and personal life.
On Thursday, Borg stated he was done with professional competition when he announced his retirement on Instagram. He ended up deleting the said post, but we’ve captured a screenshot of it.
Been in this game for a solid 14 years, never did I think retirement would come at the age of 27 but some decisions are harder than others and I have to make sure I am making the right one for my family.
I appreciate all the love the MMA community has shown my family over the years but it may be time to move on to the next chapter of my life. Much love everyone!
Borg made his return to bantamweight in May against Ricky Simon. He lost via split decision, ending a two-fight win streak.
