Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, is expected to collide with 170-pound contender Colby Covington at the upcoming UFC 224 pay-per-view (PPV) event, slotted for May 12, 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The winner will likely leave town as interim welterweight champion while baffled division kingpin, Tyron Woodley, recovers from his recent surgery.
“I was told Woodley was only able to fight at the end of the year, I can’t wait that long,” Dos Anjos said. “I have kids, I need to keep going with my career and Colby Covington is the next guy in line. I have the contract signed on my side, we are just waiting on him.”
A press conference is planned for this Friday.
The Brazilian is 3-0 since jumping up from the lightweight division (28-9 overall) and scored his most impressive win to date by outworking Robbie Lawler in Winnipeg. Covington (13-1), meanwhile, has won five in a row and recently bested former title contender Demian Maia.
