Getting all worked up about Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall not happening? According to UFC CEO Dana White, you need to relax.
Dana White wants UFC fans to chill out regarding Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall.
The big heavyweight unification bout remains a big question mark as we approach three months since Jones defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 and six and a half months since Tom Aspinall last fought. While White has previously given us a 100% guarantee, the only solid news since then was the UFC CEO shooting down reports of a boxing-sized payday for Jones.
That didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the situation … nor did a recent Instagram Live video of a drunk Jones rambling about killing people. But in a recent Instagram Live video of his own, White reassured everyone that Jones vs. Aspinall is on track.

“‘We’re not getting Jon vs. Tom ever,’” White read from the comments of his stream. “Yes you will, it’s coming. Relax.”
It’s worth noting that Jones vs. Aspinall could be generally agreed to already, and the UFC is just leaving things in that state until it’s time to make announcements. While everyone knew for months that Jones vs. Miocic was the plan for November 2024, the UFC didn’t confirm the fight until it was the scheduled time to announce the Madison Square Garden card. That’s just how things work now. The UFC 317 main event isn’t getting announced until UFC 316 is announced, and UFC 316 isn’t until UFC 315, and so on.
Leaks happen — that’s what we’re here for — and as of right now there’s no whispering behind the scenes that a deal has been struck for Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall to fight. But we don’t expect Dana White or Hunter Campbell to be approaching either fighter to sign things until they start putting together third and fourth quarter cards.
We don’t know if that makes you feel any better about the chances of Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall actually coming together, but that’s where things are at.
