I know hating on the Texas athletic commission is now the cool thing to do, thanks to “incompetent judging and a poor system” at UFC 247 earlier this month in Houston, but long before the “Jones vs. Reyes” debacle — that also tainted Andre Ewell vs. Jonathan Martinez — the “Lone Star State” stuck it to women’s strawweight phenom, Desiree Yanez.

Who just so happens to be from (you guessed it) … Texas!

Yanez put the hurt on Combate Americas 115-pound queenpin, Melissa Martinez, at the “Tito vs. Alberto” mixed martial arts (MMA) event last December in Hidalgo, but came up short on the judges’ scorecards, allowing “Super Mely” to retain her strap.

For how long, remains to be seen.

The promotion recently announced the Martinez-Yanez main event rematch for Fri., March 20, 2020 inside Frontón Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, live on Univision, TUDN USA, and AXS TV in the United States, as well as Televisa Canal 5 in Mexico.

Martinez (7-0) made a mockery of Combate Americas’ strawweight division, scoring highlight-reel finishes over Gloria Bravo and Francis Hernandez, among others, but seemed ill-equipped — or perhaps caught off guard — by the wrestling-based attack from Yanez.

Speaking of which, “Dirty Dez” (5-2) came into last December’s fight on the strength of four straight wins with two nasty finishes. She not only has an opportunity to avenge her controversial loss to Martinez, she can do it in “Super Mely’s” backyard.

Also getting their hands dirty at next month’s “Mexico vs. USA” extravaganza are lightweight bangers Daniel “Golden Boy” Zellhuber and Tommy “The Spaniard” Aaron. Elsewhere on the card, David “The Black Spartan” Martinez goes to war with veteran bruiser Jesse Strader.
