Featherweights Renato Moicano and Calvin Kattar will fight at UFC 223 in New York.
The UFC’s website announced a featherweight matchup for UFC 223 in Brooklyn, with Brazil’s Renato Moicano taking on Massachusetts-native Calvin Kattar.
Renato Moicano (11-1-1) was undefeated up until his last bout, when he was submitted by Brian Ortega at UFC 214. Before the loss, he had UFC wins over Jeremy Stephens, Tom Niinimaki, and Zubaira Tukhugov.
Still undefeated in the Octagon, Calvin Kattar (18-2) is on a ten-fight winning streak, with UFC wins over Andre Fili and Shane Burgos. His last loss came in 2010, when he dropped a split decision to Don Carlo-Clauss.
Kattar’s TKO of Burgos saw him enter the UFC’s 145-pound rankings, coming in at #15. Moicano is currently ranked #11.
UFC 223 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The pay-per-view event will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between current interim champion Tony Ferguson and top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is also expected to defend her title against former champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the night’s co-main event.
