‘The Belizean Brawler’ called it a career on Saturday night.

MMA and UFC veteran Marion Reneau left her gloves in the Octagon on Saturday night, announcing her retirement after a loss to former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate. ‘The Belizean Brawler’ ended her career with a record of 9-8-1 that stretches back to 2010.

The 44-year-old Reneau took to Instagram recently to thank a plethora of people for helping her live out her combat sports dream.

After spending her early fight career mostly within the NorCal fighting scene, Reneau joined the UFC in 2015. Her debut fight was a win over Alexis Dufresne. She followed that up with a submission win over future UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade.

Losses to Holly Holm and Ashlee Evans-Smith followed. After those disappointments Reneau went on a four fight undefeated streak. That started with a TKO win over Milana Dudieva in 2015. She then drew with Bethe Correia and TKO’d Talita Bernado before submitting former UFC bantamweight title challenger Sara McMann in February 2018.

Since the McMann fight Reneau went 0-5 in the promotion with decision losses to Cat Zingano, Yana Kunitskaya, Raquel Pennington and Macy Chiasson. Her TKO loss to Tate was Reneau’s first ever loss via stoppage.
