David Branch is set to meet Andrew Sanchez at UFC Vancouver.
A middleweight fight between former WSOF champion David Branch and TUF 23 light heavyweight winner Andrew Sanchez is in the works for UFC Vancouver.
MMA Junkie first reported the matchup, though the UFC is yet to make an official announcement. This will be the UFC’s first return to the city of Vancouver since hosting UFC on Fox 21 at the Rogers Arena in August 2016.
For the first time in his career, Branch (22-6) enters the fight against Sanchez riding consecutive losses. Dropping a first-round submission to top contender Jack Hermansson in March, Branch was also finished by Jared Cannonier in his fight before that. Branch’s last win was an impressive KO victory over Thiago Santos in April of last year.
Since winning The Ultimate Fighter season 23, it’s been a mixed UFC journey for Sanchez (11-4). After suffering consecutive defeats to Anthony Smith and Ryan Janes, the 31-year-old has since rebounded by defeating Markus Perez and Marc-André Barriault by unanimous decision
UFC on ESPN+ 16 takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia on September 14th. The venue and main event is yet to been announced for the card, however another middleweight fight between Uriah Hall and Antonio Carlos Junior was also recently added to the card.
