Heavyweight Carlos Felipe revelead a match against former champion Andrei Arlovski for October.
After calling out former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski following his latest win, it seems that rising prospect Carlos Felipe will have his wish granted. During a live interview with Brazilian YouTube MMA channel Canal Encarada, ‘Boi’ announced that his pairing with the ‘Pitbull’ is headed to the card set for October 16.
In his last outing, Felipe (11-1) achieved his third straight win when he edged out Jake Collier via split decision, back in June. The victory was preceded by two decision wins, over Justin Tafa and Yorgan de Castro. The 26-year-old’s last and sole loss happened in his Octagon debut, when he dropped a majority decision to Sergey Spivak.
Seasoned veteran Arlovski (31-20-2 NC) will look to begin a new win streak after defeating Chase Sherman via unanimous decision, back in April. Before the victory, the 42-year-old was finished via submission by another prospect in Tom Aspinall, which marks the Belarusian’s sole loss in his last four outings.
Now, Felipe is expected to take on Arlovski at UFC Fight Night 197, on October 16. So far, the UFC has not determined where the event will take place nor who is going to headline the card.
