UFC welterweight contenders Demian Maia and Colby Covington will meet on October 28 in Brazil.
Demian Maia does not want to stay away from the Octagon for too long following his title fight loss in July. As Combate reported, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt will take on rising prospect Colby Covington in Brazil.
Maia (25-7) was defeated by unanimous decision when he challenged for Tyron Woodley’s title in his last outing. The loss snapped a seven-fight winning streak with wins over notable names such as Jorge Masvidal, Carlos Condit, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny.
Covington (12-1) comes into the fight on a four-fight winning streak, having defeated the likes of Jonathan Meunier, Max Griffin, Bryan Barberena and most recently Dong Hyun Kim in June. His only loss came via guillotine choke to Warlley Alves, in December 2015.
Demian Maia is expected to meet Colby Covington at UFC Fight Night 119, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on October 28. The card will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Derek Brunson.
