A lightweight fight between Joe Duffy and Ross Pearson is being targeted for UFC Adelaide in December.
A lightweight fight between ‘Irish’ Joe Duffy and The Ultimate Fighter season nine winner Ross Pearson is in the works for UFC Adelaide this December.
MMA Nytt first reported the potential matchup. After being knocked out for the first time in his career last November, Duffy has taken some time away from the cage due to injury and recovery from shoulder surgery. Meanwhile Pearson has already fought twice in the UFC this year.
In his last fight Duffy (17-3) was finished in the last second of round two by James Vick at UFC 217. The 30-year old was on a two-fight winning streak before that loss, winning a unanimous decision against Reza Madadi and picking up a 25-second rear-naked choke victory against Mitch Clarke.
Pearson (20-15, 1NC) has been on some rough form of late, only picking up one win in his last six fights. Before dropping a unanimous decision to John Makdessi in a Fight of the Night performance at UFC Calgary in July, Pearson won his first fight in almost two years when he defeated Mizuto Hirota at UFC 221 in February.
UFC Adelaide will take place on December 1st (December 2nd in Australia). The card will be headlined by a heavyweight fight between top contenders Junior dos Santos and Tai Tuivasa.
