Australian MMA fighter Ashkan Mokhtarian was reportedly caught dealing drugs in Sydney last year.

According to The Daily Telegraph Ashkan Mokhtarian, 34, was arrested for dealing drugs in Sydney, Australia last year. That outlet reports that Mokhtarian has plead guilty to charges in relation to this arrest and that he now faces possible jail time.

The report states that Mokhtarian was arrested after supplying drugs to a woman near the Clock Hotel in Sydney’s inner city. A police strip search of Mokhtarian reportedly yielded seven resealable bags containing cocaine and 13 bags of granule MDMA.

Mokhtarian has pleaded guilty to charges of supplying an indictable amount of cocaine and MDMA.

Mokhtarian and his brother Suman Mokhtarian — also a UFC veteran — founded Australian Top Team in Wentworthville, New South Wales. That gym has no affiliation with American Top Team.

Mokhtarian started competing on the Australian MMA scene in 2011. After going 13-1 in regional competition he was signed by the UFC in 2017. He made his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt in Auckland, New Zealand. There he lost to John Moraga via unanimous decision.

In his second UFC appearance Mokhtarian was defeated by Ryan Benoit (via headkick) at UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Tybura in Sydney. Mokhtarian was expected to fight for a third time in the UFC. He was scheduled to face Jenel Lausa on June 13, 2018, but he pulled out of that fight citing injury.

Mokhtarian was then scheduled to face Kai Kara-France on December 2, 2018. But he pulled out of that fight due to injury as well. He was released from the UFC a few months later.
