Flyweight Jussier Formiga will now reportedly meet prospect Alex Perez in the Octagon.
It’s going to be a quick rebound for UFC flyweight contender Jussier Formiga. After dropping a unanimous decision back in March, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt reportedly already has another bout lined up.
According to Combate, Jussier will now take on rising prospect Alex Perez at the new UFC 250 card, on June 6. Originally, the event was meant to happen in Brazil, on May 9, but it ended up postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic, which opened up the spot for UFC 249 to take its place on the calendar instead.
Currently on a two-fight losing skid, Formiga (23-7) lost to Brandon Moreno in his last outing and was TKO’d by Joseph Benavidez before that, back in June 2019. The 35-year-old’s last win dates back to March 2019, when he bested top contender Deiveson Figueiredo via unanimous decision.
In an entirely different situation, Perez (23-5) will look for his third straight win when he meets Formiga. In his last couple of showings, the 28-year-old defeated both Mark De La Rosa and Jordan Espinosa, in March 2019 and January of this year, respectively. His last loss happened in November 2018, when much like Jussier, Alex was also knocked out by Benavidez.
Now, Formiga is reportedly expected to meet Perez at UFC 250, on June 6, in a place yet to be determined. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a female featherweight title fight between the champion, Amanda Nunes, and chalenger Felicia Spencer.
