Heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga and Ruslan Magomedov will meet in the UFC’s first trip to Croatia.
Gabriel Gonzaga has another Russian challenger ahead of him following his unanimous decision win over Konstantin Erokhin last December. This time, “Napao” will meet prospect Ruslan Magomedov, as reported by Olimpo MMA.
Already riding a three-fight winning streak in the UFC with victories over the likes of Shawn Jordan, Josh Copeland and Viktor Pešta, all by unanimous decision, Magomedov’s sole loss has come in 2011. He picked up six wins in the regional circuit before being signed up by the UFC, including wins over former UFC champions Ricco Rodriguez and Tim Sylvia.
A longtime veteran of the Octagon, Gonzaga had his job on the line when he stepped up to take on Erokhin in December, as he entered the bout with three straight losses to Mirko Filipovi?, Matt Mitrione and Stipe Miocic. That led him to a more cautious approach in his last outing, which he won by unanimous decision.
Gonzaga and Magomedov are scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night 85, in Zagreb, Croatia, marking the UFC’s first trip to the country. The show takes place on April 10th. So far, no other fights have been announced for the event.
