Strawweights Claudia Gadelha and Yan Xiaonan are reportedly set to meet in September.
A bout between a former strawweight title challenger and a rising prospect is reportedly set to take place in September. Per Combate’s report, seasoned contender Claudia Gadelha will take on arguably the most promising Chinese female fighter in the UFC after current champion Weili Zhang, Yan Xiaonan.
Currently on a two-fight winning streak, Claudia Gadelha (18-4) bested both Angela Hill and Randa Markos via decision in her last two outings. The 31-year-old’s last loss dates back to December 2018, when she dropped a unanimous decision to Nina Ansaroff.
Also on a winning streak, Yan Xiaonan (12-1-1 NC) will look for her sixth straight win in the Octagon, after defeating Kailin Curran, Viviane Pereira, Syuri Kondo, Angela Hill and Karolina Kowalkiewicz, all by unanimous decision. The 31-year-old’s sole professional loss happened in in September 2010, when she was tapped out by Karina Hallinan.
So far, a main event has not been linked to the card yet. There’s also no word yet on where this UFC show will take place.
