Ranked lightweights Alexander Hernandez and Olivier Aubin-Mercier are set to fight at UFC Calgary on July 28th.
After impressing in his UFC debut, Alexander Hernandez is set to take on fellow ranked lightweight Olivier Aubin-Mercier at UFC Calgary on July 28th.
The matchup, which till take place at UFC on Fox 30, was first reported by Mike Heck of Fansided MMA. It will be a return to home soil for Aubin-Mercier, as the Canadian has not fought in his native country since defeating Drew Dober at UFC 206.
Hernandez (9-1) provided a shock upset when he made his UFC debut back in March, filling in for the injured Bobby Green on short notice, he knocked out Beneil Dariush in the first round at UFC 222 to secure himself a $50,000 bonus on the night. The 25-year-old is undefeated since 2013, securing most of his wins under the Hero FC promotion.
Aubin-Mercier (11-2) picked up his first MMA win by knockout and first UFC bonus last month, when he finished Evan Dunham in the first round at UFC 223. The win meant OAM is undefeated in his last four fights, and hasn’t tasted defeat since losing a decision to Carlos Diego Ferreira in January 2016.
UFC on Fox 30 will take place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 28th. Although the card is currently without a main event, featherweights Jose Aldo and Jeremy Stephens will face each other in the co-main event.
