Jeremy Stephens is out of UFC 248 due to an injury.
UFC 248 has taken a big hit, as Jeremy Stephens has been forced out of his fight with Calvin Kattar due to injury.
MMA Junkie first announced the news, saying the bout is planned to be rescheduled on a later date, though the UFC is yet to make an official announcement. Stephens is yet to publicly acknowledge the injury that has forced him out of his UFC 248 fight with Kattar.
Stephens (28-17, 1NC) is without a win in the UFC in almost two years. After an accidental eye poke forced a no-contest in his fight with Yair Rodriguez last September, the two met again the following month when Stephens lost a hard fought unanimous decision. “Lil Heathen” dropped a decision to Zabit Magomedsharipov and a stoppage loss to Jose Aldo before that.
Kattar (20-4) headlined his first UFC card back in October, when he lost a decision to Zabit at UFC Moscow. “The Boston Finisher” scored consecutive first round finishes against Ricardo Lamas and Chris Fishgold before his most recent loss.
UFC 248 takes place on March 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card will be headlined by a middeweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
