Report: John Dodson takes on Marlon Moraes at UFC Norfolk

Bantamweights John Dodson and Marlon Moraes will meet on November 11 at UFC Fight Night in Norfolk, Virginia.

A pair of bantamweight sluggers was added to the upcoming Norfolk card, as Farah Hannou reported John Dodson will square off with former World Series of Fighting champion, Marlon Moraes. While the UFC hasn’t made the matchup official, Dodson later announced the matchup himself on his Twitter account.

John Dodson (19-8) has been alternating wins and losses since 2015, gathering wins over Zach Makovsky, Manny Gamburyan and, most recently, Eddie Wineland in April. Meanwhile, he was bested by current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and John Lineker. Dodson returned to bantamweight following his loss to Johnson at UFC 191 in September 2015.

Former WSOF champion Marlon Moraes (18-4-1) was on a 13-fight winning streak, with five successful title defenses before his UFC arrival. His Octagon debut, though, was not a pleasant one for him, as he dropped a split decision to Raphael Assuncao at UFC 212 in June.

UFC Fight Night 120 takes place at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The card will be televised live on Fox Sports 1, with a lightweight bout between Anthony Pettis and Dustin Poirier serving as the night’s main event.
