Originally slated for UFC 255, the bantamweight bout between Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera will now be part of the UFC’s December 19 event in Las Vegas.
Bantamweights Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera were supposed to be part of UFC 255 this weekend, but the booking was never finalized. On Thursday, the fight has been made official for UFC Fight Night 185 on December 19.
BJPenn.com first reported the news and was later confirmed by MMA Junkie.
“Chito” got some shine at UFC 252 in August when he became the first man to defeat rising star Sean O’Malley via first-round TKO. Shortly after that win, Vera expressed his intentions to face the former longtime featherweight champion and “retire him in a minute.”
Aldo, on the other hand, dropped down to bantamweight in December 2019 and lost to Marlon Moraes via a controversial split decision verdict. He then fought for the vacant 135-pound title against Petr Yan at UFC 251 in July and lost via fifth-round TKO. Aldo is currently on a three-fight losing skid.
UFC VEGAS 17 takes place at the APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Headlining the card is a welterweight bout between undefeated prospect Khamzat Chimaev and number three-ranked contender Leon Edwards.
