Light heavyweights Ilir Latifi and Corey Anderson are targeted to meet at UFC 232 on December 29th.

A fight between two top light heavyweights is in the works for UFC 232 on December 29th, as Ilir Latifi is expected to meet Corey Anderson on the card.

Kimura first reported the potential fight, though the UFC is yet to make an official announcement. Latifi has recently been campaigning for fights with both Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, but it seems the Swede will have to settle for a fight with the current number six-ranked UFC light heavyweight in Anderson.

After being brutally knocked out by Ryan Bader in 2016, Latifi (14-5, 1NC) has rebounded by winning consecutive fights against both Tyson Pedro and Ovince Saint-Preux. “The Sledgehammer” was supposed to fight Glover Teixeira at UFC Hamburg in July, but an injury forced him off the card and Anderson would go on to fill in for Latifi and defeat Teixeira on the night.

The short notice decision win against Teixeira meant Anderson (11-4) is now unbeaten in his last two fights, defeating Patrick Cummins by decision in April also. The Ultimate Fighter Season 19 winner suffered consecutive knockout losses to Saint-Preux and Jimi Manuwa before his most recent wins.

UFC 232 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 29th. Only one other fight has been announced for the card, a women’s featherweight title fight between current champion Cris Cyborg and women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
