A report from Brazil’s Combate says that Dan Henderson will get another crack at “The Dragon” when he meets Lyoto Machida at UFC on Fox 19 in Tampa, FL on April 16th.
In a rematch between former champions and longtime veterans of the sport, Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson has been targeted to take place at UFC on FOX 19 in Florida, as Combate reported. The first fight between the two was a split decision won by Machida at UFC 157 in February 2013, now Henderson will get a chance to avenge this loss.
Going through a rough patch in his career, Machida (22-7) lost back-to-back contests, both by stoppage, to middleweight contenders Yoel Romero and Luke Rockhold. The former light heavyweight champion’s last win was a first round TKO over C.B. Dollaway back in December of 2014. Before that, he lost by unanimous decision to then middleweight champion Chris Weidman in UFC 175’s “Fight of the Night”.
Henderson (31-14) is just 2-6 in his last 8 bouts. The 45-year-old suffered a first round KO in his rubber match against Vitor Belfort last November, giving him two knockout defeats to Belfort in the span of 3 years. He did manage to score a quick 1st round TKO victory over Tim Boetsch back in June. However, that was after a two-fight losing streak to the likes of Gegard Mousasi and Daniel Cormier.
UFC on Fox 19 has not been officially announced by the UFC, but the main event is expected to feature a lightweight contender matchup between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Also slated for the Tampa-based card are lightweights Beneil Dariush and Michael Chiesa, as well as light heavyweights Mauricio Rua and Rashad Evans.
